Was a bit skeptical but @cjleones ‘s best friend just introduced me to this place in Nasugbu with crazy delicious kare-kare (sauce pa lang, ulam na!) and halo-halo thats should really be called leche flan with halo-halo. Plusses: prices are decent and a setting that reminds you of The Secret Garden. (at Kainan Sa Dalampasigan)
I wish I could have this as my post fasting blood sugar meal. Cold finger sandwiches with tartufato - specks of black truffle in lardo and butter - with goose liver pate, followed by a dark chocolate tart. Great foodie memories from Florence. Not in the picture: Marco, the waiter cum cashier and chef, who was also our great view. Too bad our schoolgirl crush on him was so big, we couldn’t even take a proper photo for memories’ sake. Having relatives in Rome means I get to see a bird’s eye view of the city from a spot only locals know. #instagram #rome (Taken with Instagram at Terrazza Del Gianicolo)
Night falls in Positano.
Boats wait their turn to enter Emperor Tiberius’s private swimming pool.
New word learned today: Allora. Italians say it before beginning a sentence, a conversation. There’s no direct English translation for this word, but they use it to take some time to think of what to say. To quote my impromptu Italian tutor, “We do not like to rush.” It seems perfect too for when you want to catch your breath when coming upon a view like this. Allora, c’e una vista fantastica del Il Faraglione. (Taken with Instagram at Punta Tragara)
It’s only fair that men share the responsibility of using a hormone-based birth control to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Now, new research has brought that possibility just a littler bit closer to reality. A study by researchers at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center shows that a sperm-inhibiting gel has been shown to significantly reduce men’s reproductive abilities, thereby lowering the risk of impregnation.
The gel, which would likely be applied using a patch, uses two types of hormones: sperm-inhibiting testosterone and a synthetic chemical called progestin, which amplifies testosterone’s ability to turn off reproductive hormones. The two have been used together before in pill, implant, and shot form, but progestin was shown to have side effects like acne breakouts and fluctuations in cholesterol level, says Thomas H. Maugh II at the Los Angeles Times. In this study, researchers used a progestin synthetic called Nestorone, which supposedly doesn’t cause any such side effects.
